Common Bank Exam Syllabus for Clerk Recruitment

IBPS has started conducting a Common Written Exam or CWE for recruitment of clerks in Public Sector Banks. The a course in miracles is similar to the bank recruitment exams that were conducted before CWE. However, the common test emphasizes on General Awareness, awarding it equal weightage at par with other subjects. The selection of topics by IBPS for CWE tells us that they want people who are trainable and do not require any expertise of a particular subject. CWE retains the Objective Type Multiple choice format of questions that it inherited from similar exams that were conducted earlier. There are 250 questions, all carrying equal marks. You have to attempt all the questions in a maximum of 150 Minutes. This means on an average you should solve 5 questions in 3 minutes.

The questions in this section are based on Number Series, Alphabet Series, Test of Direction Sense, Coding-Decoding, Number Ranking, Arithmetical Reasoning, Problem on Age Calculation, Blood Relations, Analogy and Decision Making etc.

This section will test your language skills with questions like Subject Verb Agreement, Error Correction, Tenses, Sentence Rearrangement, Modals and Articles. Questions based Paragraph Comprehension and Vocabulary are also asked in this section. This section requires number crunching with questions based on Number System, HCF, LCM, Simplification, Decimal Fractions, Ratio and Proportions, Unitary Method, Percentage, Time and Distance, Time and Work, Profit and Loss, Average, Simple and Compound Interest etc.

This sections expects you to know what happens around you. You should be well verse with Current Affairs (National and International), Major Financial/Economic News, Budget and Five Year Plans, Who’s Who, Sports, Books and Authors, Awards and Honors, Science – Inventions and Discoveries, Abbreviations, Important Days, International and National Organizations.

This section will test your knowledge of basic on computers like their evolution, basic DOS commands, using Windows, MS Word and internet related applications like Browsers etc.
